Overview

WhatsApp Extended & Automation builds on Odoo 17, 18, and 19 Enterprise's built-in WhatsApp Messaging app, adding interactive message types and automation hooks the native module does not cover out of the box.

Built by TechUltra Solutions on the official WhatsApp Cloud API by Meta, the module lets Odoo send list messages, button replies, and single- or multi-product templates — the rich formats that drive higher engagement than plain-text broadcasts.

Interactive templates can be used immediately without waiting for Meta template approval, and incoming WhatsApp messages render with left/right chat layout inside the Discuss module, so agents work in a familiar conversation view rather than a stack of activity notes.

Setup & configuration

From install to first call — here is the path.

    Install the module

    In Odoo, open Apps, remove the Apps filter, search for “WhatsApp Extended & Automation”, and click Install. The module sits on top of Odoo's WhatsApp Messaging app, so Enterprise is required.

    Configure your Meta WhatsApp Cloud API

    In Meta for Developers, register a WhatsApp Business app, attach a phone number, and generate a permanent access token. TechUltra also offers an Odoo X Meta account setup service for teams that prefer a turnkey install.

    Connect the provider in Odoo

    Open the WhatsApp configuration and add a provider with your phone number ID, business account ID, and access token. Use the connection test to confirm the link is live.

    Build interactive templates

    Create list, button, and product templates in Odoo's WhatsApp template editor. Interactive templates can be used right away without waiting for Meta approval.

    Send and reply in Discuss

    Trigger templates from a contact, lead, or any other record. Replies appear in the Discuss module with left/right chat layout so agents can hold the conversation in-context.
