What's included
-
Discovery interviews
Structured 60-minute interviews with leadership across operations, finance, IT, and sales. We map current processes, pain points, and outcomes the team wants from a new ERP.
-
Current-state assessment
Written diagnostic of the current ERP landscape: what works, what doesn't, what's expensive, and where the obvious quick wins are — independent of which platform you eventually pick.
-
ERP vendor evaluation
Apples-to-apples comparison of Odoo against the alternatives that fit your business — usually 3–4 finalists. Comparison covers cost, capability, ecosystem, risk, and migration complexity.
-
ROI modeling
Three-year TCO model with implementation, license, support, and internal staff time. Sensitivity analysis on the inputs your CFO actually cares about.
-
Process redesign
Mapping current processes to Odoo's defaults — flagging which 'must-haves' are workarounds and which actually require customization.
-
RFP / RFI support
Help drafting RFPs to other vendors (or evaluating their responses) with vendor-neutral criteria. We charge the same whether you ultimately pick TechUltra or someone else.
-
Readiness assessment
If you've already decided on Odoo: a structured review of organizational, technical, and data readiness for an implementation. Output: a punch list of what to fix before kickoff.
-
Written deliverables
Every consulting engagement produces written deliverables — assessments, comparison matrices, ROI models, recommendations — that your team can act on independently of us.
Our process
-
Scoping call
1 hour60-minute call to understand what decision you're trying to make and what would make a consulting engagement useful. We sometimes recommend not engaging if the question is one a 30-minute call can answer.
-
Engagement proposal
3–5 daysFixed-scope proposal with deliverable list, interview schedule, and timeline. Pricing is fixed, not hourly — you know what you'll pay before we start.
-
Discovery interviews
1–2 weeksStructured interviews with key stakeholders (5–15 people). We document everything; nothing lives only in our heads.
-
Analysis and modeling
1–2 weeksBuild the deliverables — assessment, vendor matrix, ROI model, process maps. Iterative drafts shared with you for input rather than 'big reveal' at the end.
-
Recommendation review
1 day60–90 minute working session with leadership to walk through findings and recommendations. We answer hard questions live; nothing is hidden behind a PowerPoint.
-
Final deliverables
1 weekWritten report, decision-ready slide deck, and the underlying data files. Yours to share internally or with other vendors as part of subsequent decisions.
Typical timeline
Most consulting engagements run 2–6 weeks end to end. Vendor evaluations are at the longer end (more interviews, more vendors to evaluate). Targeted readiness assessments or process redesign for a specific function are at the shorter end. We start the engagement within a week of contract signature; the bottleneck is usually scheduling stakeholder interviews on your team's calendar, not our capacity.
What affects the price
Every engagement is fixed-scope after a paid one-week discovery. These are the levers that move a quote up or down.
-
Engagement scope
Single-decision engagements (e.g. 'should we pick Odoo or NetSuite?') are smaller. Multi-decision engagements (vendor selection + ROI + readiness + RFP support) are larger but cost less per deliverable than buying them individually.
-
Stakeholder count
Each interview is roughly 90 minutes (60-minute interview + 30 of analysis). Engagements with 15+ stakeholders run longer than those with 5.
-
Number of vendors evaluated
Evaluating Odoo against 2 alternatives is fast. Evaluating against 5+ alternatives takes longer because each one needs its own data-gathering and write-up.
-
Deliverable depth
Standard deliverables (written report + slide deck) are included. Board-ready decks, sensitivity-analysis appendices, and RFP-template drafting are scoped separately.
-
Vendor-neutral vs. Odoo-recommended
Vendor-neutral evaluations (where TechUltra explicitly may not be your implementation partner) cost the same — but we make the neutrality explicit in the engagement letter so leadership trusts the recommendation.
Who this is for
Leadership teams making material ERP decisions and wanting an independent advisor. Common shapes: a CFO comparing Odoo against SAP / NetSuite for an upcoming renewal, a COO redesigning operations and unsure whether ERP is the right tool, a board mandating an ERP review with vendor-neutral findings, or an IT director preparing for an implementation and wanting a readiness check first. We're happy to engage even when we know we won't be the implementation partner — vendor-neutral consulting is its own valuable engagement.
Why TechUltra for odoo consulting
-
Vendor-neutral when it matters
We charge the same whether you pick TechUltra or another partner at the end. Vendor-neutrality is in the engagement letter — leadership can trust the recommendation isn't a sales pitch in disguise.
-
Written deliverables, not slideware
Every engagement produces written reports your team can act on without us — not just a PowerPoint deck that needs the consultant's voiceover to make sense.
-
Senior consultants who've shipped
Engagements are run by senior consultants with 8+ years of Odoo experience — not analysts. Recommendations are grounded in what we've actually seen go right and wrong on real implementations.
-
Fixed scope, fixed price
Consulting engagements are fixed-scope and fixed-price. No hourly billing surprises; no 'one more interview will cost extra' moments.

Frequently asked questions
-
What's the difference between consulting and implementation?
Consulting is the strategy and decision-making work that happens before, during, or after an implementation — vendor selection, ROI modeling, process redesign, readiness assessments. Implementation is the execution — actually deploying Odoo. The same client often engages us for consulting first, then implementation; sometimes consulting alone is the right scope.
-
Will you recommend a competitor if Odoo isn't the right fit?
Yes. We've recommended NetSuite, SAP B1, Microsoft Dynamics, and even bespoke development in cases where Odoo was a poor fit. Vendor-neutrality is in the engagement letter for vendor-evaluation engagements specifically because most clients won't trust an Odoo partner's recommendation otherwise.
-
Can you help us write an RFP?
Yes — RFP drafting and response evaluation are common consulting deliverables. We've seen most of the relevant vendors respond to RFPs over the years; the questions that actually surface differentiation are different from the standard procurement-template questions.
-
Do you do post-implementation reviews?
Yes — independent reviews of an existing Odoo implementation, whether built by us or another partner. Output: a written report on what's working, what isn't, and what to prioritize fixing. Some clients run an annual review as a standalone consulting engagement.
-
How is consulting priced?
Fixed-scope and fixed-price after the scoping call. We don't bill hourly for consulting — partly because hourly billing creates wrong incentives (longer = more money), partly because it makes you nervous to ask follow-up questions. Pricing is shared in the engagement proposal before contract.
-
Will the consulting team also do our implementation?
If you choose us as the implementation partner, yes — same team, smooth handoff. If you choose a different implementation partner (or another Odoo Gold Partner), the consulting deliverables are still useful and we'll be available for clarification calls during the implementation.
-
Can you help build an internal business case for ERP?
Yes — our ROI modeling and TCO comparison work is most often used as the analytical backbone for an internal business case to a CFO or board. The deliverable includes the underlying data files so your finance team can stress-test the assumptions internally.
-
What kind of company benefits most from consulting?
Mid-market companies (50–500 people) where ERP decisions are material to strategy or finance. Smaller companies often don't need a formal consulting engagement; a 30-minute call can answer their questions. Enterprise teams (5000+) usually have internal strategy capacity and want consulting only on specific narrow questions.
