Because it is absolute. Every native AI feature in Odoo carries an Enterprise licence, so on Community the version is irrelevant — there is no partial access, no configuration workaround, and no third-party module that unlocks the built-in features. Version only becomes the deciding factor once you are on Enterprise, where the line falls between Odoo 18 and Odoo 19.
That makes the honest first question a commercial one rather than a technical one: whether your volume justifies the licence change. The readiness score weighs that alongside your data quality, which is the other thing that decides whether switching AI on is worth doing.

Can I use Odoo's AI on Community edition?
No. Every native AI feature in Odoo — the AI application, agents, Ask AI, AI Fields in Studio, prompt-based automation and document training — is Enterprise-licensed. On Community none of them are available, and this is not something configuration can work around.

Which Odoo version introduced AI agents?
Odoo 19. The AI application, configurable agents, Ask AI natural-language search, AI Fields in Studio and prompt-based automation rules all arrived with that release, on Enterprise. Odoo 18 and earlier have none of them.

Does Odoo 20 change this?
Odoo 20 has not been released — it is expected at Odoo Experience on 24–26 September 2026. Until it ships, nothing about its AI feature set can be confirmed, so this checker shows Odoo 19 Enterprise as the reliable floor and marks Odoo 20 as unconfirmed rather than guessing.

Does hosting affect which AI features I can use?
Not availability, but it does affect setup. Odoo Online and Odoo.sh work without extra infrastructure. On-premise deployments need outbound connectivity to Odoo's IAP endpoints, which is worth confirming with whoever manages your firewall before planning the work.

Can the Ask AI assistant change my data?
The standard Ask AI agent can open views and display reports but does not modify records. Making changes requires a configured agent with the appropriate topics and permissions assigned — which is exactly why approval thresholds matter once you start configuring agents.
