Odoo Enterprise is licensed per user, and every native AI feature requires it.
Why we split the two halves
Because their certainty is not the same, and presenting them as one number hides that. A licence figure is arithmetic on a price Odoo publishes; you can put it in a budget line and defend it. A consumption figure would be arithmetic on a rate Odoo does not publish, built from third-party estimates that disagree with each other by multiples. Averaging guesses does not make them a forecast.
What is reliable on the consumption side is the shape: how many AI operations your business generates in a month, and which activity produces most of them. That tells you where a runaway process would hurt, and it is the same measurement our AI cost control work starts from — except there we measure the real credit draw on your database rather than estimating it.
Before the cost question is worth answering, two things need checking: whether your version and edition can run these features at all — the eligibility checker answers that in twenty seconds — and whether your data is clean enough for the output to be worth paying for, which the readiness score weighs.

How much does Odoo AI cost per month?
Two separate costs. The licence is arithmetic: Odoo Enterprise lists at $24.90 per user per month, and every native AI feature requires Enterprise, so 25 users is roughly $623 a month at list price. Consumption is the part nobody can quote — Odoo bills AI against prepaid credits and does not publish a per-operation rate, so the only reliable figure is your own measured usage over the first weeks.

Why doesn't this tool give me a dollar figure for AI consumption?
Because there is no published rate to multiply by. Odoo bills AI usage against in-app purchase credits without stating a per-operation price, and the estimates circulating in partner blogs disagree with each other by multiples. Printing a confident range built on those would be a guess wearing a decimal point. The tool gives you operation volume and what drives it instead, which is what you actually act on.

What actually drives AI consumption in Odoo?
Document volume and scheduled agents. Reading vendor bills, drafting ticket replies and enriching leads each consume per item, so they scale with how busy you are. Scheduled agents are different — they run on a timer whether or not anything happened, which makes them the most common source of consumption nobody asked for.

Is using my own OpenAI or Gemini API key cheaper?
Above roughly 2,000 AI operations a month it usually is, because you pay the model provider directly rather than through credits, and you control the model choice. Below that the extra vendor relationship, key rotation and monitoring rarely pay for themselves. The practical pattern at volume is routing: your own key for high-volume simple calls, Odoo's credits for reasoning-heavy work.

Can I cap Odoo AI spending?
You can cap credit top-ups, and you should set alerts below the cap rather than at it — an alert at the cap tells you about an outage instead of preventing one. The more effective control is upstream: limit which agents run on a schedule, and how often.

Does this estimate count as a quote?
No. The licence figure is list price before regional pricing, annual commitments or partner discounts, and the operation volume uses structural per-item estimates rather than a billing model. It is an indicative estimate to size the decision, not a quote.
