Click tracking

Email Marketing > Mailings > [sent mailing] > Clicked

In Odoo 20 the Clicked statistic on a sent mailing opens a list of link clicks grouped by recipient email address. Unfolding a recipient shows each link that person clicked and the time of the click. A pie chart view of the same data is also available. Marketers use it to see which recipients engaged with which links in a campaign, rather than only the overall click rate.

Why it matters Helps marketers see which recipients clicked which links to measure mailing engagement.

How to use it

  1. Go to Email Marketing > Mailings and open a sent mailing.
  2. Click the Clicked statistic button.
  3. Unfold a recipient group.

Conditional content

Email Marketing > Mailings > Edit Design > [block] > Style > Visibility

In the Odoo 20 mailing editor every block has a Visibility option. When it is set to Conditionally, the user defines conditions on the recipient, for example a country code, and the block is only included in the emails of recipients who meet them. While editing, such blocks display a crossed-eye icon. This allows one mailing to show different content to different audiences. It is available for mailings whose recipients are Contacts.

Why it matters Lets marketers personalize mailings by showing or hiding blocks for each recipient.

How to use it

  1. Open a mailing for Contacts and click Edit Design.
  2. Click a block; in Style, set Visibility to Conditionally.
  3. Click Edit Conditions and define the rule.

Contact management

Contacts > [select contacts] > Actions > Add to Mailing List

In Odoo 20, contacts can be added to one or more mailing lists directly from the Contacts app with the Add to Mailing List action. If a matching mailing contact already exists, it is reused rather than duplicated. Recipients also have a Subscribed Newsletters card in their customer portal, where they can manage their own subscriptions. This helps marketers grow lists from existing contacts and lets recipients control what they receive.

Why it matters Helps grow mailing lists easily and lets contacts manage their own subscriptions.

How to use it

  1. Go to Contacts, list view, and select contacts.
  2. Open Actions > Add to Mailing List.
  3. Choose the lists and click Add to Lists.

Dynamic mailing lists

Email Marketing > Mailings > New > Recipients > Dynamic Lists

Odoo 20 Email Marketing uses Dynamic Lists, which are saved filters on any recipient model. A mailing can use several dynamic lists at once; their conditions are combined, and the matching recipients are only computed when the mailing is sent. The recipient list therefore reflects the data at sending time. Marketers pick dynamic lists in the Recipients section of a new mailing after choosing the recipient model, such as Contact.

Why it matters Keeps mailings targeted by computing recipients when the mailing is sent.

How to use it

  1. Go to Email Marketing > Mailings > New.
  2. In Recipients, choose Contact.
  3. In Dynamic Lists, select one or more saved lists.

Employee/supplier mailings

Email Marketing > Mailings > New > Recipients

In Odoo 20, employees and purchase orders can be used as mailing recipients, so Employee and Purchase Order appear among the recipient types of a mailing. Choosing Employee sends the mailing to staff members, while choosing Purchase Order reaches suppliers through their purchase orders. This lets companies use Email Marketing for internal communication and supplier announcements, not only for customers and leads.

Why it matters Lets businesses send mailings to employees and suppliers, not just customers.

How to use it

  1. Go to Email Marketing > Mailings > New.
  2. Open the Recipients dropdown.
  3. Choose Employee or Purchase Order.

Favorite blocks

Email Marketing > Mailings > Edit Design > [block] > save icon

In the Odoo 20 mailing editor a selected block has a save button to store it for reuse. Saved blocks appear in a Custom category at the top of the Blocks tab and can be dropped into any other mailing. In that category they can also be renamed or deleted. Marketers use this to reuse their own headers, footers or promotional sections across campaigns without rebuilding them each time.

Why it matters Saves time by reusing saved mailing blocks in future campaigns.

How to use it

  1. Open a mailing and click Edit Design.
  2. Click a block and use the save icon in its options header.
  3. Find the saved block in the Custom category of the Blocks tab.

Full-screen editing

Email Marketing > Mailings > [mailing] > Mail Body > Edit Design

In Odoo 20 the mail body shown on the mailing form is a read-only preview. Hovering it reveals an Edit Design button, or Start Designing for an empty mailing. Clicking the button opens the design editor in full screen, with the blocks and options panel on the right side. Save or Discard closes the editor and returns to the mailing form. Mailing designs are therefore always edited in this full-screen mode.

Why it matters Gives marketers more space to design mailings in full screen.

How to use it

  1. Go to Email Marketing > Mailings and open a mailing.
  2. Hover the mail body.
  3. Click Edit Design.

Link tracking

Email Marketing > Mailings > Edit Design > [link] > Edit > Advanced mode

In the Odoo 20 mailing editor, the advanced options of a link include a Disable Link Tracking checkbox. When ticked, recipients receive the original URL rather than a tracked short link, and clicks on that link are not counted in statistics. The option is reached by clicking a link or button, choosing Edit in the link popover and opening the advanced mode. Other links in the same mailing keep their tracking.

Why it matters Lets marketers turn off link tracking directly in the HTML editor when not needed.

How to use it

  1. Open a mailing and click Edit Design.
  2. Click a link or button, then Edit in the popover.
  3. Open Advanced mode and tick Disable Link Tracking.

Mailing template library

Email Marketing > Templates

In Odoo 20 any mailing can be saved as a reusable template with Save as Template from its gear menu. Saved templates are listed in the Templates menu, also called the Template Library, and they appear in the template picker of new mailings next to the standard designs. Marketing teams use this to keep a set of their own designs ready for future campaigns.

Why it matters Lets teams save mailings as templates and reuse them from a dedicated menu.

How to use it

  1. Open a mailing with a design.
  2. Use the gear menu > Save as Template.
  3. Find it under Email Marketing > Templates.

New fonts

Email Marketing > Mailings > Edit Design > Design > Font Family

The font picker in the Odoo 20 mailing editor is divided into two groups. Email-safe fonts, such as Arial, Georgia and Verdana, display in most email clients. Limited-support fonts are web fonts such as Aleo, Lato, Montserrat, Open Sans and Poppins; each has a fallback font that is used when an email client or browser cannot show the web font. The picker is in the Design tab of the editor.

Why it matters Lets marketers use more fonts, with fallbacks so emails display well everywhere.

How to use it

  1. Open a mailing and click Edit Design.
  2. Open the Design tab.
  3. Open a Font Family dropdown, for example under Paragraph.

New templates and blocks

Odoo 20 Email Marketing offers additional mailing designs and blocks. The template picker of a new mailing includes designs such as Catalog, Terms Update and Event Updates. The editor includes blocks such as Bento blocks, Image Grid, Products Grid and Schedule Table, plus further header and footer layouts. Marketers choose a design in the Mail Body tab when creating a mailing, then add blocks while editing.

Why it matters Gives marketers more templates and blocks to build mailings faster.

How to use it

  1. Go to Email Marketing > Mailings > New.
  2. Look at the template picker in the Mail Body tab.

UTM reference

Email Marketing > Configuration > Link Tracker > [link]

In Odoo 20, mailings do not create a UTM source named after each mailing. Links and documents keep a standard source, such as Mass Mailing, and a Reference field points to the exact mailing, social post or other record behind them. The Reference is shown in the UTM section of link trackers, leads and sales orders. This follows common UTM practice while still telling which campaign item generated a click or document.

Why it matters Helps keep campaign tracking clean with standard UTM handling and a Reference field instead of new sources.

How to use it

  1. Go to Email Marketing > Configuration > Link Tracker.
  2. Open a link created by a mailing.
  3. Look at the UTM section.

Product and event snippets

Email Marketing > Mailings > Edit Design > Blocks

The Website category of Odoo 20 mailing blocks contains product and event blocks marked Auto-filled from Product or Auto-filled from Event. After dropping one into a mailing, the user clicks it and picks a record in the side panel. The block is then filled automatically with the record's name, description, price or date, and image. This saves copying product or event details into a mailing by hand.

Why it matters Lets marketers add product and event details to mailings by selecting records.

How to use it

  1. Open a mailing and click its body to edit it.
  2. In Blocks > Website, drop a block marked Auto-filled from Product.
  3. Click the block and choose a product in the side panel.

Social media accounts

Email Marketing > Mailings > Edit Design > Social Media block > Style

The Social Media block in Odoo 20 mailings uses the social links stored on the company. Its options list each account with a switch to show or hide it, and allow adding custom links, reordering them and choosing the company. A Configure Company button opens the company's accounts for editing. Appearance options cover the layout (square, circle or disk), size, colors and title position of the icons.

Why it matters Lets businesses connect social media accounts and customize how they appear in mailings.

How to use it

  1. Open a mailing and click Edit Design.
  2. Click beside the social icons to select the whole block.
  3. Use the Company, link switches, Add Custom Link or Configure Company options.

Add mentions in social media posts

Social Marketing > Posts > [draft post] > network tab

The Odoo 20 social post editor has a Mention button shown as an @ icon. Typing @ followed by a name makes Odoo search the social network for matching pages or people, and the chosen result becomes a real mention that notifies that account. Mentions work for X, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. To add them, the post is switched to per-network editing and the mention is entered in the tab of the network.

Why it matters Lets marketers tag people or notify accounts in social media posts.

How to use it

  1. Go to Social Marketing > Posts and open a post with a LinkedIn page.
  2. Click Show all options to edit each network separately.
  3. In the LinkedIn tab, click @ and type a name.

AI assistant

Social Marketing > Posts > [draft post] > message field

In Odoo 20 an AI button sits beside the emoji and mention buttons of a social post's message field. It opens a Social Post Editor chat with suggested prompts, such as asking it to write a post or to find ideas. The AI takes into account the selected accounts and their length limits, and its answer can be inserted into the post. Marketers use it to draft social media content inside Odoo.

Why it matters Helps marketers draft social media posts faster with AI.

How to use it

  1. Go to Social Marketing > Posts and open a draft post.
  2. Click the AI icon at the bottom right of the message field.
  3. Pick a suggested prompt in the chat.

Facebook and Instagram stories

Social Marketing > Posts > [draft post] > network tab

In Odoo 20 posts can be published as stories on Facebook and Instagram. When a post is edited per network, the Facebook and Instagram tabs have a Post as Story checkbox. Ticking it publishes the images as a story rather than a feed post; the message and first comment fields are hidden, and the preview changes to a vertical story layout so the result can be checked before posting.

Why it matters Lets marketers post Facebook and Instagram stories directly from Odoo.

How to use it

  1. Go to Social Marketing > Posts and open a post with a Facebook page.
  2. Click Show all options to edit each network separately.
  3. In the Facebook tab, tick Post as Story.

Image display order

Social Marketing > Posts > [draft post] > Media section

In Odoo 20 images attached to a social post appear as cards in the Media section, and they can be dragged to change their order. The chosen order is saved on the post and used when the images are published, so the user decides which picture is shown first and how the rest follow. This applies to posts that include several images.

Why it matters Lets marketers choose the order images appear in when posting several images.

How to use it

  1. Go to Social Marketing > Posts and open a draft post with images.
  2. In the Media section, drag an image card to a new position.

Personal LinkedIn account

Social Marketing > Configuration > Social Media > LinkedIn

In Odoo 20 the LinkedIn card in the Social Media configuration has two buttons. Link Page Account connects a LinkedIn company page, and Link Personal Account connects the user's own LinkedIn profile. Once a personal account is linked, posts can be published to that profile from Odoo, in the same way as to company pages. The user logs in to LinkedIn to authorise the connection.

Why it matters Lets users link and post to their personal LinkedIn account from Odoo.

How to use it

  1. Go to Social Marketing > Configuration > Social Media.
  2. On the LinkedIn card, click Link Personal Account.
  3. Log in to LinkedIn.

Platform-specific post scheduling

Social Marketing > Posts > [draft post] > network tabs

In Odoo 20 a single social post can go out at a different time on each network. When the post is edited per network, every network tab has its own Post On date. Leaving it empty publishes on that network immediately, while setting a date schedules it. The Schedule button then plans each network at its own time, for example Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram at different hours.

Why it matters Lets marketers schedule one post at the best time for each social platform.

How to use it

  1. Go to Social Marketing > Posts and open a draft post with several accounts.
  2. Click Show all options to edit each network separately.
  3. Set a Post On date in each network tab, then click Schedule.

Social Marketing > Posts > [draft post]

The Odoo 20 social post form has a Scheduled first comment field. Each network tab can hold its own first comment when the post is edited per network. The comment is added automatically whether the post is published at once or scheduled.

Why it matters Lets marketers schedule a first comment to appear right after their post goes live.

How to use it

  1. Go to Social Marketing > Posts and open a draft post.
  2. Fill Scheduled first comment below the Media section.
  3. Post or schedule the post.
